Angiotensinogen Gene M235T and T174M Polymorphisms in Diabetic Nephropathy in a Bangladeshi Population

چکیده
Background: Marker gene polymorphisms linked with the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) have been broadly studied in diabetic nephropathy (DN) patients considering that RAAS is a potential drug target to slow down kidney disease progression. Objectives: The aim of present study was determine link between M235T and T174M variants angiotensinogen (AGT) DN. Methods: A total 93 DN, mean age 56±8 years, systolic blood pressure (SBP) 141±14, diastolic (DBP) 84±7 mm Hg (mean±SD) were investigated, among whom 59 had family history type 2 diabetes mellitus. 96 healthy subjects served as control group no (FHDN) mellitus, 47±10 SBP 126±11, DBP 76±6 Hg. PCR–restriction fragment length polymorphism employed for genotyping molecular variants. Results: Genotype frequencies (χ2=2.038, P=0.361) (χ2=2.952, P=0.229) did not show any statistically significant association (T2DN) compared control. Based on FHDN mellitus (FHDM), frequency genotypes marker (P=0.360) FHDN, (P=0.886) FHDM; (P=0.641) (P=0.425) FHDM also T2DN controls. Conclusion: associated DN Bangladeshi population.

Angiotensinogen M235T and T174M gene polymorphisms in combination doubles the risk of mortality in heart failure.
Angiotensinogen M235T and T174M polymorphisms have individually been associated with elevated levels of plasma angiotensinogen, hypertension, and left ventricular hypertrophy. In this study, heart failure patients (n=451) were genotyped for the angiotensinogen M235T and T174M polymorphisms to investigate association with survival (recorded over 4 years of follow-up) and prognostic hormone marke...
متن کاملAngiotensinogen gene polymorphisms M235T/T174M: no excess transmission to hypertensive Chinese.
The gene encoding angiotensinogen (AGT) has been widely studied as a candidate gene for hypertension. Most studies to date have relied on case-control analysis to test for an excess of AGT variants among hypertensive cases compared with normotensive controls. However, with this design, nothing guarantees that a positive finding is due to actual allelic association as opposed to an inappropriate...
متن کاملGender-specific association of M235T polymorphism in angiotensinogen gene and diabetic nephropathy in NIDDM.
This study examined the association between the development of nephropathy in non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) patients and M235T polymorphism in the angiotensinogen gene. White NIDDM patients with diabetic nephropathy (case subjects, n = 117) and patients without any evidence of nephropathy and > or = 10 years of NIDDM (control subjects, n = 125) were selected from among patient...
متن کاملRenin Gene Polymorphisms in Bangladeshi Hypertensive Population
OBJECTIVE Linkages of renin gene polymorphisms with hypertension have been implicated in several populations with contrasting results. Present study aims to assess the pattern of renin gene polymorphisms in Bangladeshi hypertensive individuals. METHODOLOGY Introns 1, 9 of renin gene and 4063 bases upstream of promoter sequence of renin gene were amplified from the genomic DNA of the total 124...
متن کاملContribution of angiotensinogen M235T and T174M gene variants and haplotypes to preeclampsia and its severity in (North African) Tunisians
BACKGROUND Preeclampsia (PE) is a pregnancy-associated hypertensive disorder and a leading cause of maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. While its pathogenesis remains ill defined, several candidate genes for PE have been identified, but results remain inconclusive. We investigated the association of the angiotensinogen ( AGT) gene variants M235T and T174M with PE, and we analyzed the...
